Alright then. If you don’t mind, I’m bringing Lizzy a present. I expect Tony wouldn’t accept any present from me, but would you? I can’t not bring the hostess a small present.
You make it sound like I practically raised Tony as my own, planning to have him killed one day. No, that was not my intention until just before I hired those morons. I intended to keep you alive, unaware of what had happened, but Tony involved you, had you find files that you were not meant to find. I think that it is a valid argument.
Ask yourself this one question: If I intended to hurt her, don’t you think I would’ve done so by now?
I promise I am not going to try to have Tony killed again.
Would you like me to pick anything up on the way?
I don’t have plans. How does Tony feel about this invitation? If he kills me, I’d prefer it not be in front of Lizzy. Otherwise, yes. I’d love to.
A few weeks ago. She’s a sweet girl, and I bring her dolls and we play with them.
Tony stood staring keeping his eyes on Obadiah. “Lizzy come to Daddy… Come near her, come near my family I’ll make sure to be ready next time. I’ll make sure something happens.” Tony purposely didn’t use the word kill again, not wanting to scare Lizzy and have her end up in his arms. “I don’t care what you have to say. Disappear. And Never come back.”
The littlest stark closed her eyes not knowing what to do or who to go to. Her hand still wrapped around Obadiah’s she used her free hand to wipe her tears that wouldn’t stop. “Daddy, he’s weally nice…” she muttered. She hadn’t seen or heard anything evil or wicked come from him since she met him and everything that was going on, her father seemed like the bad guy from the words he was saying. Lizzy shook her head trying to rearrange the thoughts in her head. She looked back up to Obadiah, “wight. You awe nice. You awn’t twying to huwt mommy ow daddy?” She tried to clam her breathing down enough to speak. Why was she fighting so much for it? Why couldn’t she win, and have both the men not be upset, angry, or hurt about the situation? She sniffled again, waiting for an answer from either side.
"I’m going to stay away from her, only if she wants me to stay away from her." He smiled at Tony, knowing it rankled him. He smiled kindly down at Lizzy, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "I am not trying to hurt your mommy and daddy, I swear to you." He told her, firmly. It seemed suddenly important to not disappoint her, and his previous plans of revenge seemed petty in comparison now. His change showed in his eyes, his earnestness for her to believe him.
Tony stood still a distance away putting one hand to his eyes wiping his face “Please, Lizzy, please tell him to put you down.. He’s dangerous, he’s not who he says he is..” Tony stood thinking about what he was about to tell her, but he had no choice, ”Uncle Eddy is using you to get to me and Mommy, he wants Mommy and Daddy dead. You need to get away from him… Stane put her down, you want me not her, we’ll step outside, just put her down, and walk away.”
Lizzy looked between the two men. Horror filling her eyes. Dead? Her brown eyes read her fathers expression through the blurriness of the tears. They slowly drifted over to uncle eddy as she pushed away once more. “down.” She muttered not knowing what to do. She didn’t want to be put down, to be perfectly honest. She felt safe and she didn’t understand why she wasn’t. She stayed at a distance, closing her eyes and rubbing away the tears for herself, swatting Obadiah’s away. she sniffled as she repeated the word. “down.” She said just as softly.
He looks her in the eye. “Lizzy, I am not using you to get to your parents. I enjoy every moment that I spend with you. I have not lied to you once, you are a granddaughter to me, and I would never use you against your parents. I have never killed anyone,” His eyes flit up to Tony’s, because he couldn’t refute that.
He had never killed anyone, nor physically tried to. Tony was the exact opposite. “And I do not want to kill anyone. I really don’t want to die, either.” He added at the end, a little apprehensively. He knew he wasn’t going to die today, and if he was, he was bringing Tony with him, but he wouldn’t bring his weapon out unless Tony drew first. He put her on the ground and held her hand firmly, but not holding her back if she left his side.
He knew the moment she let go of his hand and stepped away, the conversation was over and he had to make a quick exit. “Stark, this isn’t about you for once. I really care about Lizzy.” He sounded a little surprised himself, since he hadn’t started their ‘playtime’ with that intention, but she surprised him by crawling into his heart.
At having a hand up over Tony:
At Tony making Lizzy cry:
Tony stood clenching his fists, “Put her down.. now.” He looked away for a moment when he saw him kiss her. He turned and started walking quickly over to them but soon stopped when he moved his hand, he wasn’t sure if he was carrying something but he wasn’t going to chance it. “Lizzy tell him you want down… I would kill you, I should have made sure you were dead before leaving SI. Lizzy tell him now!”
Lizzy could feel the wet spot she had been leaving on Obadiah’s shirt and she sniffled as she pulled away and looked at how close her father was. The little girl fought the urge to turn back and hide and instead continued to listen to her father, water still pouring down her face. “D-daddy. Stop it.” She repeated, hard to understand through her sobs. She pushed away from Obadiah in hopes that it would make her father back off a little bit, however she refused to tell him she wanted down.
In fact, at the moment, she swore if she had been put down her father would indeed kill her uncle eddy and her nightmares would be true. She started to shake again, but still pushed at Obadiah in hopes to please her father just a little bit.
Obadiah breathed out and concentrated on calming down for Lizzy’s sake, his eyes burning holes in Tony’s if they had the power from his intensity. “You’re scaring Lizzy.” He said simply, as if to explain why he wasn’t putting her down. He loosened his hold on Lizzy, but didn’t put her down because she didn’t ask him to. His hand on her back moved up to wipe her face. “Hey, don’t cry. Remember, Princesses don’t cry. You want to go get some ice cream until your daddy calms down?” He whispered so Tony wouldn’t hear, then gave her a little room, his hand moving back to her back to rub it again.
